City As Art

Not all of Florence’s art is in her galleries.  In fact, sometimes it’s just outside a gallery.  I grabbed this snapshot from a window when I discovered this scene while looking at the Ponte Vecchio and the Arno River from the Uffiz Gallery.  I didn’t have the time to wait for just the right moment of just the right day with just the right sky to do this cityscape artistic justice, so all of that was added later through the magic of digital post-production.

Archive Alert!

Image is everything — especially when wildcat South Ranch Oil needed to visually communicate to investors that the company had boots on the ground, pipe in the earth and derricks in the air.

This is a photo of me which is among many that served as visual evidence of SRO’s well-established drilling operation in southwest Texas.

I wanted to communicate the concept of sisterhood in this exploratory visual for STL Kids Magazine.  The idea was to capture an unguarded moment of sibling serenity in which the details did the talking.

For example, I like the way the older sister isn’t looking at the camera, but appears to be doting on her younger charge.  Notice the telltale gesture of a protective hand and the confident smile of the little girl who appears to feel safe in her sister’s arms.
